About the Role

We are seeking a talented Mid-Level Java Developer to join our growing team at Odyssey. This is a critical new role where you'll design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using modern Java technologies. You'll work on scalable microservices architecture and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. This position offers the opportunity to grow your technical expertise while contributing meaningfully to our product platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java applications using Spring Framework and Spring Boot
• Design and implement microservices architecture following industry best practices
• Write optimized SQL queries and work with relational databases
• Integrate message queuing systems such as Apache Kafka for asynchronous processing
• Build and manage build automation using Maven or Gradle
• Collaborate with product managers and QA teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving code quality
• Troubleshoot and debug production issues with minimal downtime
• Stay updated with emerging Java technologies and best practices

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience in Java development
• Strong proficiency in Core Java and Object-Oriented Programming principles
• Hands-on experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot
• Solid understanding of SQL and relational database design
• Experience with Maven or Gradle build tools
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and distributed systems
• Knowledge of message queuing systems such as Apache Kafka
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Nice to Have

• Experience with Docker and containerization
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure)
• Familiarity with REST APIs and API design patterns
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Exposure to agile development methodologies
• Background in performance optimization and database tuning
