Senior Cloud Engineer (E3)

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer (E3) to join our growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) team. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who can design, build, and operate complex cloud solutions while mentoring engineers and partnering closely with CloudOps, DevOps, security teams, and clients.


Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of advanced cloud-native solutions for client workloads

  • Evaluate and select tools, libraries, and AWS services aligned to scalability, security, and cost efficiency

  • Apply structured frameworks to assess problems, risks, and architectural trade-offs

  • Build and enhance cloud-native architectures including serverless, IoT backends, and highly automated delivery pipelines

  • Enforce engineering standards, SDLC best practices, and architectural consistency

  • Move fluidly between high-level architectural thinking and hands-on implementation

  • Partner with CloudOps to design support models, response procedures, and operational handoffs

  • Participate in cross-functional delivery teams to ensure successful client outcomes

  • Mentor engineers, define stories and task-level work, and provide technical guidance

  • Design and implement highly reliable, secure, and cost-optimized AWS architectures

  • Build and maintain observability platforms using AWS-native tools (CloudWatch, X-Ray, Config) and partner solutions (Datadog, Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry)

  • Collaborate with 24x7 operations teams to define actionable metrics, logs, and alerts
    Establish runbooks and automation aligned to monitoring thresholds and incident response

  • Drive root cause analysis, noise reduction, and long-term reliability improvements

  • Partner with DevOps and security teams to embed resilience, security, and cost optimization into all solutions

  • Coach, mentor, and share knowledge with engineers across experience levels

  • Perform code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and pair program when needed

  • Contribute to internal IP, tooling, and open-source initiatives

  • Participate in Agile delivery models and execution planning

  • Engage with clients through presentations, architectural discussions, and technical decision-making

  • Build relationships with vendors and AWS partners

  • Stay current with AWS best practices and emerging cloud technologies



Requirements


Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with strong 4+ years of IT experience

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)

  • 2+ years of programming experience in Python, Node.js, TypeScript, Go, Java, or C#

  • 2+ years of strong experience in Kubernetes.

  • Experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern delivery practices

  • Experience working within Agile or similar delivery methodologies

  • Willingness to work in the graveyard shift

  • AWS Associate or Professional certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, SysOps, Developer)

  • Experience designing scalable, automated cloud infrastructure

  • Strong experience with AWS Lambda and serverless architectures

  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or MSP environments

  • Experience in client-facing or consulting roles

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to varied audiences

  • Effective time and self-management with the ability to prioritize, adapt, and meet deadlines

  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to analyze issues and deliver practical solutions

  • Collaborative team player who builds productive relationships with clients and stakeholders
