Senior Data Engineer – Looker & Amazon QuickSight

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer with extensive hands-on experience in
both Looker (LookML/dashboard development) and Amazon QuickSight. This role will help
shape our analytic infrastructure, assist in dashboard migration, and deliver high-performance
BI solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams. You’ll work with the latest technologies
and with disruptive customers looking to bring innovative ideas to the market.

Roles & Responsibilities :
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Looker dashboards and LookML models (including explores, derived tables, dimensions/measures, PDTs)
  • Design and implement Amazon QuickSight dashboards: build SPICE datasets, visualizations, filters/parameters, and fully featured dashboards
  • Lead migration projects moving dashboards from tools like Looker to QuickSight, replicating metrics, filters, and layouts while optimizing performance
  • Use SQL extensively for querying, ETL validation, data transformations, and ensuring data model integrity.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering and business stakeholders to design semantic layers and data models to support BI tools.
  • Evaluate and adjust ETL logic/data pipelines to align with BI needs and ensure data accuracy.
  • Perform data validation and QA on datasets, reports, and dashboards to ensure consistency and correctness.
  • Apply dashboard performance optimization practices in QuickSight (e.g. SPICE tuning, incremental refreshes)
  • Manage QuickSight data source integrations (Redshift, Athena, RDS, S3) and build relationships to secure data delivery.
  • Utilize related AWS services—e.g. IAM, Glue, Lambda—for governance, data preparation, and process automation.
  • Produce comprehensive documentation for data transformations, dashboard specifications, and delivery guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, supporting analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders.

  • 4 to 6 years of experience with BI tools, including significant hands-on work in Looker and LookML.
  • 3+ years building and optimising Amazon QuickSight dashboards, managing SPICE datasets, and performance tuning
  • Strong SQL proficiency (complex queries, joins, data modelling, validation).
  • Experience with data modelling and semantic layer design to improve analytics usability.
  • Proven track record in BI migration projects, particularly moving dashboards from Looker (or similar) to QuickSight.
  • Familiarity with AWS ecosystem: Redshift, Athena, RDS, S3, Glue, Lambda, IAM.
  • Experience with QA processes, data validation, and analytical consistency checks.
  • Ability to assess performance bottlenecks and optimize dashboards for user experience.
